About The Position

The Teaching Assistant (TA) will support the Health and Physical Assessment course for BScN and DE students. This course emphasizes the development of clinical assessment skills and clinical reasoning through lectures, labs, and online activities. The TA will primarily support asynchronous learning and engagement through myCourses. The TA will support the instructional team in maintaining an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative learning environment.

Requirements

  • Current Masters or Doctoral student at McGill.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Nursing is mandatory.

  • Graduate teaching experience is preferred and an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates mastery of the course material, including physical assessment techniques, health history taking, and clinical reasoning concepts.
  • Monitors and responds to student questions and group discussions on the myCourses discussion boards, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Responds to general course-related and logistical inquiries via myCourses, McGill email, or other McGill-supported platforms.
  • May contribute to the development and facilitation of optional recorded review sessions prior to major evaluations (e.g., midterm and final).
  • Supports faculty with posting announcements to students on myCourses, as needed, to support learning and engagement.
  • Meets with the course instructor(s) at the start and end of term to coordinate expectations, discuss course goals, and review student feedback.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism when accessing course data or gradebooks.
  • May assist in proofreading and formatting evaluation tools (e.g., quizzes or review material) under instructor supervision.
