About The Position

We have a teaching assistant position available for CML1704 (Législation) for the fall semester. The teaching assistant is responsible for leading weekly tutoring sessions (alternating between access/equity tutoring and office hours) and offering exam preparation sessions at the end of each semester. In addition, the candidate attends the course to which they are assigned and assists the professor with administrative tasks. They will also serve as a mentor, helping students with their transition to law school. Your in-person presence is required.

Requirements

  • GPA of 7.0 or higher
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Prior experience in teaching or tutoring
  • Ability to use technology for teaching purposes
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and creatively
  • Knowledge of the barriers faced by members of groups seeking equity in the academic context
  • Demonstrated academic excellence (grade of A- or higher) in the subject for which the student wishes to tutor
  • Must have taken the course for which they wish to tutor as a JD student at the University of Ottawa or the equivalent
  • All applications must include: a cover letter; your resume; a copy of your unofficial transcript (including your Winter 2026 grades); two references (contact information); a list of your first-year courses and the name of the professor.
