About The Position
McGill University’s Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education is hiring three unionized contractual Teaching Assistants for EDKP 342, Physical Education Methods. Teaching Assistants are graduate students employed to assist the Course Supervisor in a classroom environment. The appointments are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM). Each position is for a minimum of 50 hours during the term, for 150 hours total across the three positions. The course runs from January 5, 2027, to April 14, 2027. Appointment dates are December 28, 2026, to April 30, 2027. The hourly rate is $38.46.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate student (master’s or PhD) enrolled at McGill University.
- Familiarity with course content.
- English proficiency, spoken and written.
Nice To Haves
- Ideally enrolled in the Kinesiology and Physical Education program with teacher preparation (teacher certification).
- French proficiency, spoken and written, is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Videotape six half-day labs in schools.
- Lead students in lesson planning and reflections on their teaching, approximately six hours per week for six weeks.
- Assist with lectures, in-house labs, and marking exams.
