About The Position
McGill University’s Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education is hiring three graduate students as unionized contractual Teaching Assistants for EDKP 206, Biomechanics of Human Movement. Teaching Assistants assist the Course Supervisor in a classroom environment. The course runs from January 5, 2027 to April 14, 2027, and the appointment runs from December 28, 2026 to April 30, 2027. Each position is allocated 50 hours for the term, at an hourly rate of $38.46. Teaching Assistant positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM). Applicants must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec at the campus where the position is based. McGill is an English-language university, and English communication is required verbally and in writing. Applications are due by November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate student (master’s or PhD) enrolled at McGill University.
- A background in physiology and biomechanics is necessary.
- Familiarity with course content.
- English proficiency, spoken and written.
- Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
Nice To Haves
- Enrollment in a Science Education program is ideal.
- A background in anatomy is an asset.
- Familiarity with video kinematic analysis, electromyography, force plates, accelerometers, and analog-to-digital conversion/acquisition.
- French proficiency, spoken and written, is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Conduct demonstrations and assist other Teaching Assistants with labs as requested.
- Assist students with group virtual projects and presentations.
- Prepare questions and answers from labs for MyCourse quizzes.
- Prepare and assist with the midterm and final exams.
- Communicate with graders to clarify question and answer keys.
