About The Position
The Center for Disability Services is hiring Teaching Assistants to support its mission of making a difference and shaping a more inclusive future. The agency provides programs and services to individuals with disabilities in upstate New York. Teaching Assistants help teachers address students’ needs as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The work may include preparing classroom materials, providing direct instruction, and providing custodial care to students.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must obtain New York State Teaching Assistant Certification.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- College credits preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher with activities designed to address students’ needs as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Prepare classroom materials.
- Provide direct instruction to students.
- Provide custodial care of students.
