About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course PSYC 2P22 Psychology Statistics & Research Design I. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The nominal workload for this position is 120 hours per half credit course appointment. Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.

Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or PSYC 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum 3rd Year complete in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 80; and have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 80.
  • Previous successful experience as a TA or Marker in this course in an academic setting will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style
  • Must be able and willing to present material/conduct seminars remotely
  • Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and audio-video conferencing
