About The Position

The Teaching Assistant supports classroom instruction and helps maintain an orderly learning environment under the direction of classroom teachers. The role includes presenting subject matter, tutoring students individually or in small groups, reinforcing learning concepts, and adapting support to students’ special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs. The position follows school district schedules, with time off when school is off. The stated pay range starts at $135.00 per day. Specific responsibilities and qualifications may vary based on regulations governing child care and education.

Requirements

• PA Teaching Certification.
• Willingness to complete and pass required clearances and training, including four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical and TB test, and CPR Certification.
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stopping for long periods during an eight-hour day.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help manage student behavior as needed.
• Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Present subject matter to students under teachers’ direction and guidance using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
• Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
• Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
• Work with individual students or small groups to develop needed skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
• Keep the teacher informed of students’ special needs and/or problems.
