About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant position in the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group for the course SOCI 3Q92 - Contested Knowledge for the Winter D3 term. Requirements

• Masters Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent.
• Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent)
• Demonstrated teaching competence. (eg. summary of previous course evaluations, faculty evaluations)
• Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines, recognizing that there are periods of intensive work associated with the position.

Nice To Haves

• If vacancies remain, students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 15 or more credits) in Sociology or equivalent (with an 80% average or higher) will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Scheduled contact time with students
• Non-classroom time including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Benefits

• Compensation based on qualifications: undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour (for those without a 4-year honours degree or 3-year pass degree), graduate rate - $36.67 per hour (for those with a 4-year honours degree or 3-year pass degree).
• Additional compensation for additional duties at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
• Flexible work arrangements where possible.
