About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking Teaching Assistants for the 2026-27 academic year. The general location of work will be the College of Engineering, and TAs will report to the instructor(s) responsible for the course. Physical presence for the duration of the semester is required. Duties will be assigned by the Instructor(s) and may include marking assignments, laboratory reports, quizzes, and exams; holding tutorials or staffing a Help Desk; assisting with course administration such as email communications and grade recording; demonstrating laboratories; monitoring laboratory safety; invigilating examinations; and collecting information for continuous program improvement. Other related duties may also be assigned. The number of hours varies, and the duration of employment is the 2026-27 Regular academic year, with specific start and end dates typically from September 1 to December 31, depending on the assignment. The positions are associated with various courses within the department.

Requirements

  • Current student, in good standing, enrolled in the College of Engineering or Engineering Physics
  • English language proficiency, both written and oral is required
  • Must be able to be physically present for the duration of the semester

Responsibilities

  • Marking assignments
  • Marking laboratory logbooks and/or reports
  • Marking quizzes and/or exams
  • Holding tutorials and/or staffing a Help Desk for students
  • Assisting with general administration of the course such as email communications with students regarding assignments, and recording grades
  • Demonstrating and/or assisting with the demonstration of laboratories
  • Monitoring safety in the laboratory in cooperation with the instructor(s)
  • Invigilating examinations
  • Collecting information for continuous program improvement
  • Other duties related to the course deemed appropriate by the Instructor(s)
