About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for the course SWRK 221 - Public Social Services In Canada at McGill University. Requirements

  • Familiarity with major social services, considering their policy framework, service delivery system, and challenges to delivery and their link to social rights and social justice.
  • Understanding of the difference between private, public, and community services.
  • Knowledge of critiques of Canada and Québec’s public social services and a social worker’s place in engaging in the improvement of these services.
  • Understanding of the role of a social worker in the area of social rights and social justice.
  • Ability to analyze the power relations between citizens, the government and the services.
