About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Statistics seeks a Teaching Assistant Professor of Statistics in Pittsburgh, PA, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Statistics. The primary responsibility is teaching, but duties include: (i) student advising; (ii) supervision of graduate assistants; (iii) program administration; and (iv) service on departmental and University committees to further our academic mission.

Requirements

  • PhD degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Statistics or a related field
  • One (1) year of experience in a related position teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in North America
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with consistently strong student evaluations
  • Experience developing new university courses, including the design of lectures, assignments, exams, videos, and animations
  • Experience utilizing tools such as R, Red Hat, and Canvas to enhance engagement and accessibility
  • Experience developing syllabi and assessments that incorporate principles of universal design for learning and integrate diverse examples and case studies
