About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. Summary: The responsibilities of the ACCT 340 Teaching Assistant are to hold virtual TA Office Hours to assist enrolled students for up to 5 hours per week up to the Final Exam, and communicate with students regarding scheduled TA Office Hours through Canvas and email. The TA is to notify students in advance if a change in scheduled TA Office Hours is needed and communicate with faculty regarding concepts or applications that may need additional attention during class meetings based on student feedback/questions.

Requirements

  • AU BSA, BS/MSA or MSA Student in good academic standing and conduct standing.
  • AU BSA, BS/MSA or MSA Student who has successfully completed ACCT 340 with a B+ or higher.
  • Patience and passion with the learning process.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Hold virtual TA Office Hours to assist enrolled students for up to 5 hours per week up to the Final Exam.
  • Communicate with students regarding scheduled TA Office Hours through Canvas and email.
  • Notify students in advance if a change in scheduled TA Office Hours is needed.
  • Communicate with faculty regarding concepts or applications that may need additional attention during class meetings based on student feedback/questions.
  • Complete Workday payroll time sheet on a timely basis.
