About The Position

Luzerne County Head Start (LCHS) is seeking dedicated Teachers to join their team. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities, managing the classroom, and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes school readiness. The position requires adherence to curriculum philosophy and developmentally appropriate practices. Teachers will also be responsible for evaluating and recording children's progress and maintaining regular communication with parents. LCHS is a non-profit organization and a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Early Childhood Education
• PA Certification in PK-4 Instructional I (Required for PreK Counts classroom assignments)
• Current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations
• Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Language abilities, English/Spanish

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement educational activities based on children's abilities and interests, in accordance with curriculum philosophy.
• Manage the classroom and plan activities that are developmentally appropriate.
• Evaluate and record children's progress.
• Communicate with parents on a regular basis.
• Provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices.
