About The Position

The Academic Teacher works as an instructor in a regular classroom, presenting instruction in a designated subject area. The teacher fosters a positive and desirable classroom atmosphere to support student motivation, maintains classroom discipline to maximize learning, and establishes strong rapport with students. The role also maintains student personnel folders and records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.

The position is with Jacksonville Job Corps, a program that helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete high school, prepare for careers, and obtain employment. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check and a drug screen in compliance with the employer’s Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Requirements

• Certified to teach in the state of Florida.
• Pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Successfully complete a nationwide criminal background check as a condition of employment.
