About The Position

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Rockport, Texas, is hiring qualified Teacher. The primary responsibilities of the position are to instruct students to develop skills and ability to excel in all subject areas taught. This elementary position currently services 3rd-5th grade students, teaching Math and Social Studies. The candidate will contribute to the Catholic education program as a whole and to the growth of students academically and spiritually.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid, appropriate state certificate
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • General classroom management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the community
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
  • Able to do basic computer skills such as e-mail and word processing
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Use of a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of students in academic growth
  • Classroom management and instruct students to meet the needs at their levels to view growth
  • Work with other members of school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of all students
  • Keep all information about individual students confidential and promote student growth emotionally and academically
  • Ensure all student expectations and progress are clearly communicated to students and parents
  • Monitor and support student academic growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned
