About The Position

The Homeschool Teacher guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with those goals, establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and has the ability to effectively communicate these objectives to students to enhance the education they are receiving at home. All staff work as a team and will be assigned additional duties as needed. The employee is expected to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality; is open to learning from others and accepts constructive criticism; and is a positive role model for students (e.g., is consistent, fair, dependable, responsible, and respectful).

Requirements

  • Classical / Core Knowledge/Homeschool teaching experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Demonstrates understanding of homeschool families and their educational goals and philosophies
  • Excellent organizational and academic skills
  • Effective student/classroom management skills
  • Student centered; demonstrates success in working with students
  • Excellent collaborative/teaming skills
  • Energetic, creative, innovative, flexible
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; skillful communicator with students, staff and parents

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction in assigned subjects for homeschool students participating in enrichment programs.
  • Develop lesson plans and learning activities that align with curriculum standards and the classical education model.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to students and parents.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, program expectations, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and program staff to coordinate curriculum and student activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and student performance.
  • Support enrichment program events, field trips, and special projects as needed.
  • Participate in professional development and trainings to stay current with educational best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the homeschool enrichment program.
  • Provides effective instructional strategies and activities for all students in the classroom.
  • Incorporates effective writing techniques into instructional activities.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of appropriate classroom behavior
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, RMCA policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in other activities, such as standardized testing, as determined by the Director
