About The Position

This posting is for a Long Term Occasional (LTO) Teacher at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, covering three sections for Semester 1. The role includes teaching Grade 9 Religion (HRE1O) for one virtual section and Cooperative Education (DCO3O) for two sections. The assignment is effective from November 2, 2026, until approximately December 4, 2026, with a potential extension to February 5, 2027. The position is for an existing vacancy.

Requirements

  • Basic qualifications to teach in the Intermediate and Senior Divisions.
  • Sound knowledge of the programs and teaching experience in the specified division and subject areas.
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how students learn effectively.
  • Commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning and collaboration.
  • Knowledge, experience and proven ability in utilizing differentiated instructional approaches within the classroom that support well-being, equity and inclusion.
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies.
  • Ability to implement a shared vision consistent with the principles of Catholic education and integrating the Catholic Graduate Expectations within the curriculum.
  • Flexibility to be assigned in other subject areas as the need arises.
  • Willingness to actively assume extra-curricular duties.
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, the school community.
  • Submission of a completed Teacher Application Package including pastoral reference (for external applicants).
  • Satisfactory criminal record check as a condition of employment.

  • Honours degree and/or subject qualification(s) in the specified or related subject areas.
  • Special Education Part I.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Grade 9 Religion (HRE1O) - one virtual section.
  • Teach Cooperative Education (DCO3O) - two sections.
  • Facilitate instruction and effective communication with parents using student learning management systems like Google Classroom, G-Suite digital tools, and EDSBY.
  • Utilize a repertoire of proven instructional and assessment practices.
  • Support the use of technology in instruction and learning.
  • Promote an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st-century learner.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and collaboration through school-based PLC's, department meetings, co-planning, and co-teaching.
  • Utilize differentiated instructional approaches that support well-being, equity, and inclusion.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies.
  • Integrate Catholic Graduate Expectations within the curriculum.
  • Be flexible to be assigned in other subject areas as the need arises.
  • Actively assume extra-curricular duties.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and familiarity with the school community.
