About The Position

As a Teacher at Primrose Lafayette, you will play a crucial role in nurturing young minds and fostering their development. You will plan and implement engaging activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of each child, aligning with the Primrose Balanced Learning® approach. Primrose Lafayette is an accredited private preschool offering year-round programs for children from infant through elementary school age, providing a premier educational childcare experience.

Requirements

  • Must meet basic requirements of local childcare regulatory agency.
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. for handling children, program facilitation, child safety, and emergency situations.
  • For Infant and Young Toddler teachers, ability to properly lift infants into and out of a crib.
  • For Infant - Preschool Teachers: 2-year degree in early childhood or related field preferred.
  • For Pre-Kindergarten Teachers: 4-year degree in early childhood or related field required.
  • For Kindergarten Teacher: 4-year degree in early childhood and certified to teach in the state in which the school operates required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
  • Adherence to all rules and regulations of Primrose Lafayette and relevant regulatory agencies concerning child health, safety, and care.
  • Ongoing assessment of each child's developmental needs.
  • Implementation of approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedules according to the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum.
  • Collaboration with the Leadership Team for parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
  • Maintenance of an attractive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity, exploration, and decision-making.
  • Provision of positive reinforcement and clear behavioral expectations for children.
  • Responsibility for classroom maintenance, housekeeping duties, and common area/playground upkeep.
  • Attendance at all required staff meetings, workshops, and school functions.
  • Maintenance of professional personal appearance according to the Primrose Lafayette Employee Handbook guidelines.
  • Assistance in other capacities as determined by the Director or designee.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
