Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following: Texas State Teacher’s Certification in subject to be taught
  • Bachelor's degree with a passing score on an ExCET/TExES Exam in grade level or content area to be taught
  • Bachelor's degree with an academic minor or major (minimum of 18 credit hours) in the core academic subject areas to be taught
  • Bachelor's degree and documented successful, relevant work experience in the content area to be taught, established by at least one year of employment in a specific field or occupation that required the educator to demonstrate knowledge or skill in the content area. This is to be supported by a professional letter of recommendation from the educator’s employer or supervisor.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-Year College or University.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in the area of Generalist (EC-4 or EC-6). (If alternative certified, letter of eligibility for generalist certification is required)
  • Additional grade level or content area certification may be required for select positions.
  • Passion for adult learners
  • Ability and patience to work interactively with students
  • Computer literate.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to learn and implement teaching curriculum programs and instruct students on utilization.
  • Ability to understand the individual needs of each student.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of students, co-workers, Life Coaches, and Campus Director.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results, state assessments scoring, and grade point average.
  • Flexibility with changes, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Instructional program for all students assigned, including but not limited to, classroom instruction, after-school and tutorials.
  • Administer State and District tests to monitor student academic growth.
  • Motivate students to work independently in all courses in order to progress through the curriculum for credit completion.
  • Instruct or Direct Teach students in courses as needed in order for them to progress.
  • Ensure that all required documents are maintained for each student.
  • Administer tests to evaluate student’s progress, records result, and issue reports to educate learners about their progress, strengths, and areas of development.
  • Maintain discipline in the classroom.
  • Maintain a classroom that is conducive to learning, safe, attractive and stimulating.
  • Set a good housekeeping example in the classroom and encourage students to follow this example.
  • Communicate with students and hold individual meetings to review Individual Learning Plan and provide general advising, including CTE and career advising.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
  • Inspire students with consistency, care, and interest to build self-esteem and promote continued success.
  • Praise students, compliment them and encourage them in order to build character.
  • Utilize a variety of learning methods to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Prepare tutorial lessons to promote student success on state assessment exams.
  • Work closely with the Special Education and ESL teachers to ensure special education student modifications / accommodations are being implemented.
  • Perform related duties such as assisting students, and counseling students in adjustment and academic problems.
  • Model integrity and core values.
  • Master the Curriculum System in order to assist the students in mastering the system.
  • Read and comply with the ResponsiveEd Procedures Manual, Student Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, and the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned.
  • After normal business hours may include, but is not limited to, Saturday Mandatory State Tutorials.
