About The Position

The Encounter High School Teacher provides Christ-centered instruction that promotes academic excellence, spiritual growth, and character development in students. Reporting to the Encounter High School Director, the teacher plans and implements lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and biblical worldview, fosters a positive classroom environment, and supports the overall mission of the school.

Requirements

  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the school’s statement of faith and mission.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, subject area, or related field.
  • Strong classroom management, instructional, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to integrating faith and learning in the classroom.
  • Ability to fulfill the physical and work requirements of the job.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check as well as educational employment history check and reference check.
  • Candidates must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid teaching certification or equivalent experience (as required by state or school).
  • Master’s degree or additional coursework in Education or the teacher’s subject area.
  • Experience teaching in a Christian school or faith-based environment.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development, differentiated instruction, and assessment strategies.
  • Experience mentoring or advising students beyond the classroom.
  • Ability to incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods into lessons.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment that reflects the school’s Christian values.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with the curriculum and learning standards.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Foster spiritual growth by incorporating biblical principles into classroom discussions, activities, and assignments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, department leaders, and administrators to enhance student learning and school programs.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Maintain accurate student records and reports.
  • Support school-wide initiatives, extracurricular programs, and chapel or discipleship activities as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to build strong relationships.
  • Drive school-rented vehicles as needed to support school operations, events, and transportation needs.
