About The Position

To provide accelerated and/or compensatory educational services for students who are not performing at grade level or who did not perform satisfactorily on a state-mandated assessment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

Responsibilities

  • Cooperate with other teachers in planning and implementing the instructional program in reading and/or mathematics for the students assigned.
  • Works with the principal and supervisory staff in identifying and solving problems related to students.
  • Diagnoses and assesses student needs with regard to the instructional goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes teaching techniques and classroom strategies to accommodate the various learning styles and modes of the students.
  • Assists in the selection of programs, equipment, and materials to meet the needs of the students.
  • Involves parents by systematic communications.
  • Promotes positive school and community relations through effective dissemination of information.
  • Utilizes technology and facilities in the most effective manner to support the instructional program.
  • Interacts with students to promote a positive school image to enhance the teaching-learning process.
  • Performs effectively assignments relating to record keeping and reporting.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned by the building principal.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal
