About The Position

The SPED Teacher's role will be to create a supportive learning environment in which students can meet their learning goals. Through interesting and diverse methods, successful strategies to reach IEP goals, and access grade-level curriculum. They oversee student progress by tracking assignment and exam grades to provide useful feedback. WCPA teachers are results-driven educators with experience in and commitment to standards-based curricula and in using data and assessments to drive instructional decisions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required
A California Education Specialist Credential (mild/mod); PIP/STSP/waivers will be considered.
Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn SIRAS, IEP writing, and Special Ed Reporting Software
Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn RTI, co-teaching, collaboration, Push-In, Pull-out, Learning Lab Intervention, and small-group teaching models.
Demonstrated mastery of classroom skills, including classroom management, planning, assessment, and instructional practice
Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools
Preparing and implementing lesson plans that lead to student understanding based on state standards
Providing an effective learning environment that reflects and facilitates student achievement
Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records
Writing and conducting IEPs and facilitating IEP meetings
Proctoring Formal Assessments
Updating service logs and files
Communicating with partnering agencies
Participating in SST Meetings
Maintaining frequent communication with students, students' families, colleagues, and leadership
Participating regularly in professional development opportunities
Appropriately communicating and interacting with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work.
Attending and participating in staff meetings, extra-curricular/school-related activities, and committees.
Demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional growth and working with administrators to formulate and complete professional development plans.
Maintaining a professional appearance and demonstrating behavior that is conscientious and responsible.
