This position is responsible for the academic, social-emotional, cognitive, language and physical growth and development of all children in their classroom. This may include any school-age child as well as adolescents/youth. The teacher develops culturally appropriate, weekly lesson plans according to the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and implements age-appropriate activities to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care. The teacher provides a safe physical and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the students’ learning and growth. The teacher provides effective leadership and management to uphold KYUMH’s Trauma-Informed Care Culture for clients and staff. The ideal candidate would have respect and appreciation for diverse cultures, be passionate about serving youth and be calm under stress.
