TEACHER - SPECIAL EDUCATION
About The Position
Rivendell Behavioral Health Services is seeking a Teacher for our acute child/adolescent patients. This position exists to provide direct instruction and other educational services to hospitalized children and adolescents to help them maintain or improve their academic performance and facilitate a smooth post-discharge transition back into their home school setting. The role requires working within a team, taking direction from Lead Education staff and the Clinical Services Director. Effective communication skills are needed to maintain contact with patient’s home school counselors and other school district personnel. A general knowledge of state and federal laws governing Special Education—Approved School Programs is necessary. The ability to understand and respond to complex instructions, and to respond quickly and calmly under stressful or emergency situations is essential. All classroom lesson plans and grading will be conducted within working hours to maintain patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Arkansas Teaching License with certification in Special Education for the appropriate grade levels.
- Current CPR or BLS certification.
- Current Handle with Care training.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5-65yrs+.
- Classroom experience.
Responsibilities
