About The Position

Mapleton Public Schools is hiring a licensed Social Studies teacher for the 2026–2027 school year at Global Leadership Academy, a grades 9–12 internationally focused school on the Broadway Campus. Students receive rigorous daily instruction and have access to Advanced Placement classes, a Design Studio, concurrent enrollment, and a Business Management Pathway. The pathway develops entrepreneurial, project management, and leadership skills through projects involving digital marketing, customer relationship management, sales, and small business management. The school emphasizes student leadership, restorative justice practices, and partnerships with GIA and GPA mentors. The teacher will build a safe, trusting, collaborative community with students and families; mentor and advocate for students; support academic and social-emotional development; and plan and deliver standards-based, differentiated instruction. The role includes weekly individual meetings with students, support for individualized learning plans and personal projects, and guidance through internships. The teacher will collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, an instructional coach, and/or the Director, use student data to adjust instruction, and participate in Mapleton’s Secondary Constructing Institute. Mandatory Title IX training must be completed within 30 days of hire on the employee’s own time.

Requirements

Colorado teaching license with an appropriate Social Studies endorsement.
Deep understanding of Colorado Model Content Standards and grade-level expectations for Reading, Writing & Communications.
Desire to grow professionally, reflect on practice, and seek new opportunities.
Experience using multiple formative and summative assessments to determine student proficiency, provide feedback, and create flexible groups for differentiated instruction.
Experience using a wide range of effective instructional practices, including active and inquiry-based instruction, to support students in meeting or exceeding standards.
Experience designing or collaborating on standards-based learning experiences, including identifying and preparing course materials that support student skill development, especially in science and cross-content coursework.
Experience developing problem-based instruction and project-based learning.

Responsibilities

Build a safe, trusting, collaborative community with students and their families, enabling them to contribute positively to the school community.
Mentor and serve as a student advocate on a two-year loop.
Communicate regularly with parents about students’ academic, social, and emotional needs.
Guide students through meaningful internship experiences and commute to facilitate meetings with internship mentors.
Provide project-planning support for students’ two personal projects each year.
Plan advisory activities with grade-level teams to support social-emotional growth and community building.
Support and monitor students’ Individualized Learning Plans through weekly one-on-one meetings.
Use data to direct planning and instruction.
Collaborate with specialists to provide appropriate accommodations for content practice and assessment.
Routinely assess student goals and progress and make instructional adjustments to support personal growth.
Create learning opportunities that support students with 504 plans, IEPs, GATES plans, and other needs.
Use standards to plan instruction backward from intended learning outcomes.
Set goals and meet regularly with the Instructional Coach and/or Director to support professional growth.
Participate in Mapleton’s Secondary Constructing Institute.
Complete two mandatory Title IX training courses within 30 days of hire, on the employee’s own time.
