About The Position

Dexter High School is seeking a full-time Social Studies Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. This is a 1.0 FTE replacement position. The teacher will teach high school students and create a positive, engaging learning environment. The salary is based on the current DEA Salary Schedule. Employees are responsible for obtaining and maintaining all required training, certificates, approvals, and related documentation, and providing it to Human Resources before expiration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
• Secondary Teaching certification with an endorsement in (CX) or (RX).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans and educational materials.
• Knowledge of educational standards and best practices in teaching Social Studies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.

• Experience teaching high school Social Studies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
• Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and success.
• Assess student learning and progress through assignments, tests, and other forms of evaluation.
• Provide students and parents with feedback on student progress and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a cohesive and effective educational experience for students.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding educational goals and student progress.
• Obtain and maintain required training, certificates, approvals, and related documents, and provide documentation to Human Resources before expiration.
