This position aims to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible members of society. The role involves assessing student abilities, developing and implementing lesson plans, and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning. The teacher will identify student needs, cooperate with other staff, and maintain professional competence through continuous growth. Responsibilities also include maintaining positive parent/community relations, ensuring student record confidentiality, participating in school-level planning and meetings, and fulfilling professional responsibilities beyond the classroom, such as participating in co-curricular programs and promoting ethical standards. This position is subject to the Students First Act of 2011, and Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill it by transfer of a qualified applicant already employed by the district. No credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year if the hire date is after September 30.
