This role involves establishing goals, planning and preparing engaging lessons, identifying and modifying instructional materials, maintaining a safe learning environment, and effectively managing time, materials, and equipment. The teacher will also instruct and supervise volunteers and aides, maintain record-keeping procedures, utilize behavior management techniques, and assist in enforcing school rules and policies. A key aspect of the role is participating in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Educational Plans (EPs), and 504 Plans for exceptional education students. The position requires developing effective assessment strategies, interpreting data for instructional planning, and establishing an appropriate testing environment. The teacher must demonstrate strong knowledge of subject matter, apply learning principles, use a multimedia approach, and enhance critical thinking skills. Modifications for students with special needs, providing challenging and relevant work, recognizing and acting on indicators of student distress or abuse, and instructing on safety procedures are also crucial. Effective communication with professionals, students, parents, and the community, collaboration with peers and parents, and continuous professional growth through inservice and study are expected. The teacher will model professional and ethical conduct, perform all professional responsibilities, prepare reports, maintain records, and support school improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous student growth and achievement.
