About The Position

Kids Crest of Country Manor is opening a brand-new childcare center at Pinecrest in Brainerd and is looking for enthusiastic, caring Lead Teachers. This center will feature five age-specific classrooms and outdoor play areas, providing ample space for children to explore and learn. As part of the Pinecrest campus, Kids Crest will offer intergenerational activities, allowing children and seniors to build relationships. Teachers can also utilize the campus for varied learning experiences and participate in community events. The Teacher's Aide will work under the direction of the Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher, supporting classroom activities, daily caregiving routines, supervision, and ensuring the overall safety and well-being of the children. Kids Crest aims to create an exceptional childcare community for Brainerd-area children and families.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age. Employees under age 18 must work under the direct supervision of a qualified Teacher or Assistant Teacher in accordance with Minnesota childcare licensing requirements.
  • Previous experience working with children is preferred.
  • Demonstrates a genuine interest in caring for and supporting children.
  • Able to interact with children in a patient, positive, and nurturing manner.
  • Willing to work under the direction and supervision of a qualified Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher.
  • Able to communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, and coworkers.
  • Dependable, responsible, and able to work cooperatively as part of a classroom team.
  • Able to follow classroom routines, lesson plans, safety procedures, and licensing requirements.
  • Willing and able to assist with meals, toileting, diapering, rest periods, outdoor activities, and other daily caregiving routines.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.
  • Must successfully complete all required background studies and pre-employment requirements.
  • Must complete required orientation and ongoing training, including first aid, CPR, mandated reporting, and other training required by Minnesota childcare licensing standards.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including frequently standing, walking, bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and lifting or carrying children and classroom materials.
  • Must be able to work assigned hours and maintain reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
  • Support daily classroom activities, lesson plans, art projects, games, outdoor play, and special events.
  • Interact positively with children and encourage their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Help children with daily routines, including meals, snacks, handwashing, toileting, diapering, dressing, and rest time, as applicable.
  • Maintain active supervision of children and follow required staff-to-child ratios and classroom procedures.
  • Assist with classroom transitions, arrival and departure, playground activities, and movement throughout the campus.
  • Help prepare classroom materials and organize learning and play areas.
  • Clean and sanitize toys, tables, equipment, and classroom spaces according to health and safety procedures.
  • Observe children and promptly communicate concerns, injuries, incidents, or changes in behavior to the supervising teacher.
  • Reinforce positive behavior and consistently follow classroom expectations and guidance practices.
  • Build warm, respectful relationships with children, families, coworkers, and campus residents.
  • Support intergenerational activities and other Kids Crest and Pinecrest campus programming.
  • Follow licensing requirements and all policies related to child safety, confidentiality, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and mandated reporting.
  • Participate in required orientation, training, staff meetings, and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the classroom and childcare center.
