About The Position

Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a reading specialist teaching position that is available at Christiansburg High School for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary responsibility is to develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.

Requirements

• Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement as a Reading Specialist.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Reading Recovery and/or early literacy programs.
• Experienced or have working familiarity with intervention programs.
• Experience or working familiarity with virtual education.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.
• Develop and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum materials.
• Effectively assess student learning and use results to plan and implement appropriate instruction.
• Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning.
• Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework.
• Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students.
• Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families.
• Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities.
