Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and put down up to fifty (50) pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Repeated lifting and placing down of children required.
  • Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.
  • Must complete prior to the first day of employment the on-line Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training (4-hour course).
  • Must complete within ninety (90) days of hire the state mandated Early Literacy for Children Birth to Three childcare trainings (5-hour course).
  • Complete yearly in-service trainings provided by the NSU University School Preschool.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Major (if required: In field or 12 credits in field

Nice To Haves

  • Valid State of Florida Certification Certificate.
  • Master's Degree.
  • One (1) year of successful experience in teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements an appropriate curriculum.
  • Establishes an enriching, safe, and clean classroom and playground environment.
  • Demonstrates effective class management.
  • Designs and develops learning materials.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with participating parents and coworkers.
  • Fulfills work obligations including: promptness, staff meetings, open house attendance, and parent orientations.
  • Maintains a professional posture regarding program participants, co-workers, and administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
