About The Position

This position is for a Physical Education/Health Teacher within the Paterson Public Schools. The role involves teaching comprehensive health and physical education to students, with a focus on elementary students. The teacher will be responsible for diagnosing student strengths and weaknesses, applying appropriate instructional techniques, and utilizing various pedagogical and subject matter skills. The position requires adherence to New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA). The role also involves effective classroom management, computer literacy, and strong communication skills with staff, students, parents, and the community. This position is pending budget availability and is open for ten (10) consecutive days following the date posted or until filled. Requirements

  • NJ instructional certificate in Physical Education and Health
  • Hold and maintain CPR/First Aid certifications
  • Experience in teaching and working with students in the field of comprehensive health and physical education, unless entering teaching from an alternative certification program
  • Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA
  • Excellent classroom management
  • Effective instructional practices and strategies
  • Experience working with elementary students
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and good moral character
  • Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others
  • Must be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, and the community
  • Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications
  • Mastery of pedagogical and subject matter skills

Nice To Haves

  • If assigned responsibilities for teaching swimming, must hold and maintain an American Red Cross water safety certificate registered with the New Jersey State Department of Education

Responsibilities
