About The Position

The CTE Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) will work collaboratively with the Director of Career and College Readiness and the CTE leadership team. The specialist will work closely with classroom teachers and department leaders. Responsibilities will include monitoring CTE compliance with state requirements, facilitating/supporting teachers, facilitating CTE staff training, supporting schools with implementing instructional technology and equipment, providing instructional support and may include teaching CTE courses.

Requirements

  • Valid and appropriate CTE teaching certification.
  • 5+ years of successful teaching experience
  • Knowledge regarding Danielson's Framework for Teaching.
  • Experience on state and/or district instructional committees.
  • CTE teaching experience and strong instructional technology skills.
  • Experience in leadership activities.
  • Ability to articulate ideas and communicate well with others.
  • Strong communication, organization, and facilitation skills; ability to coordinate multiple tasks and stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize time and commit to a flexible work schedule.
  • Experience in collaborating with teachers and administration around instructional practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree and/or National Board Certification preferred.
  • Extensive background in CTE/applied learning instructional strategies, assessment, and deep knowledge of state laws and regulations regarding CTE.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Induction Mentor for CTE teachers in their first three years of service, providing non-evaluative coaching, observations, and feedback.
  • Facilitate the "New CTE Teacher" cohort, helping them navigate the transition from industry to the classroom (Plan II certification support).
  • Act as the lead consultant for CTE-specific instructional technology. Provide leadership and guidance with teachers, curriculum implementation, instruction coordination and technology integration.
  • Provide professional development planning and facilitation for CTE teachers in a variety of settings (Professional Learning Days, after school, etc.)
  • Model high-leverage instructional strategies that increase student engagement and technical skill acquisition.
  • Facilitate teachers use of best practices in CTE instruction and instructor PLC work. Work with Career and Technical Education teachers, department leaders and district support staff regarding CTE and applied learning.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of course curriculum, frameworks and syllabi to ensure alignment with Washington State and industry standards.
  • Support teachers in developing robust Performance-Based Assessments and preparing students for Industry Recognized Credentials (IRCs).
  • Support the Director of Career and College Readiness in the review, selection and adoption of new curriculum resources.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies to keep programs at the forefront of industry standards.
  • Assist the Director of Career and College Readiness in the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) and annual CTE program re-approvals.
  • Assist Director of Career and College Readiness in creating and sharing data reports and presentations for district and school leaders.
  • Attend professional development at district and state level to maintain understanding and awareness of current research in CTE and state initiatives.
  • Build learning, collegial relationships with individual staff members.
  • Effectively manage projects and time with clear outcomes and results.
