About The Position

Fair Lawn High School is seeking a Teacher of Technology Education for a leave replacement position for the 2026-2027 school year, starting in November 2026. This role requires appropriate New Jersey certification and involves instructing students in technology education, including hands-on activities, STEM-based courses, and the use of modern manufacturing tools like 3D printers and laser engravers. The teacher will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment and effectively communicating with students, staff, parents, and the school community.

Requirements

  • Proper N.J. Certification: Technology Education (1810) and/or Construction Technology (4188), Drafting and Design Technology (2544), Engineering Technology (2545)
  • Hold valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of effective, research-based instructional methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, instructional strategies, assessment, learning theory, and classroom management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the content field when responsible for content-specific instruction
  • Demonstrate the ability to use digital equipment and instructional technology for data management, communication, and learning tools
  • Must be able to perform physical work which requires frequent bending and lifting
  • Experience using and instructing with hand and power tools, required
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exhibit a professional and enthusiastic demeanor

Nice To Haves

  • Background in architecture, engineering, or teaching architecture and engineering, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in technology education, including STEM-based courses.
  • Utilize hands-on instruction focusing on the design process and manufacturing using 3D printing and laser engraving.
  • Perform physical work which requires frequent bending and lifting.
  • Use and instruct with hand and power tools.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
