About The Position

This leave replacement position teaches middle school students various courses within the Social Studies Department at South Orange Middle School. The assignment is available January 22, 2027 through June 2027 and is 1.0 FTE. The teacher provides classroom instructional leadership in accordance with the Board of Education-approved course of study and curriculum. The position is a 10-month appointment, with salary as per the SOMEA Agreement. Starting salary ranges vary by degree: Bachelor's degree, $70,000–$100,315; Master's degree, $77,450–$109,865; Master's plus 30 credits, $81,565–$115,450; and Doctorate, $84,565–$118,450.

Requirements

New Jersey Teacher of Social Studies Certification.
Strong interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills.
Required criminal history background check.
Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching at a secondary level is preferred.
