The General Music Teacher is responsible for preparing scholars in general music in multiple buildings. This role involves developing a high-quality general music program using research-based instructional strategies, providing sound music instruction in singing, music reading/literacy, and theoretical application through movement and instruments. The teacher will also provide rhythmic instruction, develop lesson plans aligned with the curriculum and academic plan, implement differentiated instruction, and plan/execute at least two performances per building annually. Additionally, the role includes communicating with feeder schools for program articulation, evaluating scholar progress, grading, attending professional development, maintaining a safe classroom environment, communicating with parents and staff, and serving as a role model.
