About The Position

The Innovative Instruction Lead Teacher will work collaboratively with campus teachers and administrators to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of campus instructional initiatives relevant to the core curriculum that accelerates student performance as indicated by annual scores in district, state and/or nationally standardized assessments. To strive for continuous improvement of the instructional program and for personal and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Education or related field, required
  • Texas Teaching Certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned or other permits as approved by state
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Utilize effective interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge of subjects assigned
  • Exhibit general knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • 3 years Classroom Teacher with inquiry-based classroom experience, preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual/ESL Certification, preferred
  • Basic computer skills, preferred
  • Deep knowledge of reading, writing, and literacy development (K-5)
  • Knowledge of second-language acquisition in the English language development and supported English-content instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Keep informed about student centered innovative instruction literature and research in the field of education/assigned subject; student-centered inquiry-based teaching, learning, and assessment practices and attend appropriate conferences and professional development sessions; maintain professional growth in the core knowledge area of competency. Make educational developments, literature, and research available and understood to all campus staff.
  • Provide campus based professional development and support by leading all student-centered inquiry-based instructional practices by completing a grade level needs assessment in order to collect information for establishing services using Innovative Instruction resources.
  • Develop, review and promote approaches to learning and instructional strategies that will target student-centered innovative instruction resulting in student growth.
  • Establish and implement a scientifically research based instructional support program to assure that students make optimal gains in all core content areas by using student-centered innovative instruction to enhance the program framework.
  • Lead weekly collaborative planning grade level sessions with members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives and methods to address the needs of campus populations through student-centered inquiry-based units and strategies. Lead teachers through reflective practices involving student centered innovative instruction.
  • Assist teachers in planning, preparing and executing student-centered innovative instruction lessons, instructional strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect accommodation, for individual needs of students.
  • Document student progress and prepare reports on a regular basis to assure student academic achievement.
  • Revise and publish the school's programme of inquiry-based lessons and units.
  • Lead the process of developing, reviewing and evaluating the unit planners with the instructional documents relevant to student-centered innovative instruction.
  • Communicate with the school community, parents regarding the student academic gains and progress in participation of student-centered innovative instructional strategies.
  • Attend all meetings and professional development as directed and keep abreast of developments in curriculum/instruction as leadership is provided.
  • Seek continuous professional development growth that relates to the assigned program and that meets district staff development requirements.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible and is a positive role model for teachers and students.
  • Support effective classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of students and take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Establish open lines of communication between school and home by sending parent letters and notes, telephone calls, and by attending as many activities and meetings involving students and/or parents, such as PTA/PTO, campus events as deemed necessary by the administration.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required by funding source, Title I, Part A.
  • Follow McAllen ISD Customer Service Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator) in accordance with funding source guidelines.
