About The Position

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), a division of FullBloom, provides education services for K–12 students who need additional support to succeed in traditional school settings. SESI partners with school districts to operate in-district classrooms and standalone schools serving students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.

The Teacher in Training provides academic, social, and emotional support to students who need additional assistance. The role uses SESI instructional models, strategies, and curriculum; conducts assessments; uses data to develop and implement instructional plans; and collaborates with school teams and families to support student outcomes. The position also involves supporting students’ behavior and safety, documenting progress, and participating in school activities, meetings, and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Commitment to learning and implementing feedback.
• Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a dynamic educational environment.

• Valid teaching certification.

Responsibilities

• Work with students from varied developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Teach knowledge and skills, nurture students’ confidence and character, and provide individualized attention to meet their needs.
• Use assessment data to modify short- and long-term plans to promote students’ academic performance.
• Develop and maintain skill-appropriate lesson plans.
• Collaborate with team members to foster critical thinking and academic rigor.
• Apply the school’s behavior support and intervention strategies.
• Use de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to maintain student and team-member safety.
• Drive, record, and track student growth and progress toward goals, and develop and maintain required forms and files.
• Participate in daily school functions, including morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory duties, as well as conferences, meetings, and training.
