The Teacher, Grade 2 position at Wilkinson Elementary aims to provide an educational atmosphere where students can achieve their full potential in intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth, aligning with the District's philosophy, goals, and objectives. This role involves establishing goals, planning and preparing engaging lessons, identifying and modifying instructional materials to meet diverse student needs, and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment. The teacher will also manage time, materials, and equipment effectively, supervise volunteers and aides, maintain records, and utilize effective behavior management techniques. Additionally, the position requires participation in developing and implementing IEPs, EP's, and 504 Plans, developing assessment strategies, interpreting data for instructional planning, and ensuring appropriate testing environments. The teacher is expected to demonstrate subject matter knowledge, apply learning principles, use a multimedia approach, enhance critical thinking skills, and provide instructional modifications for students with special needs. The role also includes providing quality, challenging, and relevant work for students, recognizing and acting on indicators of student distress or abuse, instructing on safety procedures, and fostering a positive learning environment. Effective communication with professionals, students, parents, and the community is crucial, as is collaboration with peers and parents. The teacher will engage in continuous professional growth, conduct self-assessments, and model professional and ethical conduct. Finally, the teacher will perform required reports, support school improvement initiatives, ensure continuous student growth and achievement, and perform other incidental tasks.
