About The Position

The gifted and talented teacher is responsible for organizing, implementing and supporting modified instructional strategies to meet the needs of gifted students. This role involves designing or selecting appropriate instructional modifications, preparing and evaluating annual educational plans, and providing specialized instruction to individual and small groups of gifted students. The teacher will also create a positive classroom environment, guide the learning process, establish learning objectives aligned with state standards, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, the role includes developing classroom behavior rules, communicating with parents, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and the community, and participating in the evaluation process.   • GT endorsement required
  • Teacher with appropriate licensure code or equivalent
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks

Responsibilities

  • Organize, implement, and support modified instructional strategies for gifted students.
  • Design or select appropriate instructional modifications for gifted students and coordinate with other teachers.
  • Prepare, implement, and evaluate an annual educational plan for each student based on individually assessed needs.
  • Develop and monitor modified strategies for students in coordination with other teachers.
  • Serve on the District identification committee for gifted students.
  • Provide specialized instruction to individual and small groups of gifted students.
  • Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement and enables students to achieve learning objectives.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals.
  • Establish learning objectives consistent with appraisal of gifted students and state standards.
  • Plan and utilize instructional methods, resources, and evaluation techniques to motivate students.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and District policy.
  • Develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures, and maintain order.
  • Provide parents with regular performance evaluations.
  • Establish positive relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
  • Participate cooperatively in the evaluation process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
