Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a school learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. This role involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, developing and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning, and preparing for classes with documented evidence of preparation. The teacher will strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals, taking necessary precautions to protect students and school property. The position requires diagnosing learning abilities, evaluating student progress, and maintaining accurate records. The teacher will uphold school rules and administrative regulations, and be available for parent-teacher conferences. Responsibilities include supervising students in and out of classroom activities, attending faculty meetings, serving on committees, and cooperating with colleagues in planning instructional goals. The teacher will assist in selecting instructional materials, accept shared responsibility for co-curricular activities, and maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress. Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with others, pursuing professional growth, and representing the school positively in the community are also key aspects. The role requires demonstrating a positive attitude, acting as a positive role model, and showing a desire for all students to learn and succeed. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential. The teacher may be required to administer health services in the absence of a school health professional, including assistance with personal care needs. The position must meet the Standards and Indicators set forth in the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan and abide by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel. Adherence to district and school employee handbooks, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and applicable laws and regulations is required. Performs all other functions deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law.
