The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting the school principal in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program and operation. This role involves assisting in developing and maintaining an effective educational program, administering the school, transforming school culture into a results-oriented collaborative learning community, and supporting the school's Plan for Continuous Improvement. The Assistant Principal also monitors compliance with federal, state, and local mandates, plans and implements professional development, and serves as principal in the absence of the regular principal. Additional duties include proposing schedules, managing budget requests, requisitioning supplies, coordinating support services, monitoring student attendance and discipline, working with parents and students, maintaining files, identifying student needs, supervising teachers, explaining curriculum goals, and assisting in the supervision of the instructional program.
