About The Position

This position is for an English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher within Paterson Public Schools. The role requires a candidate knowledgeable in New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS), WIDA, and mandated state testing. The teacher will work with students across various grade levels and is expected to implement effective instructional strategies. Requirements

• Hold a New Jersey English as a Second Language certification.
• Must be knowledgeable of NJSLS, WIDA, and mandated state testing.
• Excellent experience teaching and working with various grade level students.
• Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of teaching English as a second language, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis and research related to learning and children needing to learn English as a second language.
• Demonstrate the ability to use technology and technological devices to enhance lessons, as well as for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Must be computer literate.
• Highly motivated result-driven educator.
• Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Pending budget availability.
