About The Position

This position is for the 2026-2027 school year and involves serving students directly in a push-in setting and partnering with classroom teachers to co-plan and co-teach. The role focuses on educating the whole child intellectually, socially, and emotionally, planning and implementing learning to meet instructional needs using a constructivist approach with explicit strategies for increasing language proficiency and accessing content. The teacher will use data to assess student progress, make instructional adjustments, and communicate with students, families, and colleagues to support emerging bilinguals. Demonstrating understanding of culturally responsive teaching practices and participating in school activities, meetings, and professional learning are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Appropriate endorsement is required.
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching.
  • Oregon teaching license in assigned area(s) and proper endorsements.

  • Masters Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a specific plan to provide services for each emerging bilingual student in accordance with the West Linn-Wilsonville EL Plan.
  • Plan and implement instruction to significantly increase each student’s language proficiency, keep detailed evidence of progress with proficiency and use evidence to continually make adjustments to services.
  • Use the research-based strategies and approaches employed by the WLWV School District to plan and implement strategies in direct work with students and in co-planning and co-teaching with classroom teachers.
  • Model instructional strategies and prepare materials as examples for content area teachers.
  • Develop formats and practices to effectively share and support teachers in using language proficiency strategies.
  • Set up systems for school wide understanding and actionable support of emerging bilingual students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, specialists and administrators to create a strong and supportive learning experience and school culture for emerging bilingual students and their families.
