About The Position
This position is for an English/Language Arts Teacher for Grade 8 for the 2026-2027 School Year at Stockbridge Middle. The teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active learning. This role requires developing schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments in accordance with established guidelines, instructing and monitoring students, and utilizing relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. The teacher will also manage student behavior, provide feedback on student work, observe and assess student performance, and maintain accurate records of student progress. Additionally, the role involves assigning and grading student work, participating in various meetings, and performing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator Certificate or meet the district's professional qualifications.
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
- Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments that are in accordance with established guidelines.
- Instruct and monitor students.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior inside and outside the classroom according to established guidelines.
- Provide appropriate and meaningful feedback on student work.
- Observe and assess student performance and development.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
- Assign and grade classwork, homework, assessments, and assignments.
- Participate in district, school, department, and parent meetings.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
