About The Position

The Teacher, Elementary STEM Lab will deliver STEM/Interdisciplinary instruction through research-based, innovative learning methods. This role involves attending professional development, employing various instructional techniques, and utilizing technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration. The teacher will work with administrators and staff on STEM initiatives and curriculum, organize STEM events, and coach other teachers on STEM best practices. Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison for STEM vendors, initiate new programs, and share STEM activities through social media. Additional duties will be in accordance with the District’s job description for Classroom Teacher.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator Certificate or meet the district's professional qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of K-5 pedagogy required.
  • Strong background in science, required.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of successful certified level experience in education, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver STEM/Interdisciplinary instruction through research-based, innovative learning methods.
  • Attend professional development and training related to STEM programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
  • Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Work directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM initiatives and curriculum.
  • Organize, develop, and coordinate special STEM events/activities.
  • Coach teachers on STEM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEM areas.
  • Serve as liaison to prospective or selected STEM vendors, to determine the best resources, options and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff.
  • Initiate new programs that support the STEM vision.
  • Share STEM events and activities through social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Follow the District’s job description for Classroom Teacher for additional duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
