About The Position

This position is for an Elementary Physical Education Teacher at Garfield Elementary. The role involves planning and delivering instructional activities, creating a positive learning environment, and fostering student achievement and lifelong skills. The teacher will instruct and monitor students, utilize technology, and serve as a role model for lifelong learning and professional behavior. Flexibility, resourcefulness, and innovation are key to designing and executing responsive learning experiences. The teacher will also observe and evaluate student progress, assign and grade work, and assume other responsibilities as determined by the supervising administrator. Professional conduct and a positive public image of the School District are expected.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching certificate MA, MB, MC or MX required.
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Must be Highly Qualified in endorsement area.
  • Must meet certification and endorsement requirements for assignment.
  • Must meet all NCA and Michigan Department of Education requirements.
  • Be proficient in the use of technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Grade level experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Be flexible, resourceful, innovative and effectively manage the design and execution of learning experiences, both formal and informal, that are very responsive to the needs of students and the context in which learning is taking place.
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments and provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Assume other responsibilities as determined by their supervising administrator.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and project a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
