About The Position

This position is for an Elementary Physical Education Teacher, with .8 allocation at Woodrow Wilson and .2 at Garfield Elementary. The role involves planning and delivering instructional activities, creating a positive learning environment, and fostering student achievement and lifelong skills. The teacher will instruct and monitor students, manage learning materials, and provide feedback on student performance. This role requires flexibility, innovation, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a school setting.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching certificate MA, MB, MC or MX required.
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Must be Highly Qualified in endorsement area.
  • Must meet certification and endorsement requirements for assignment.
  • Must meet all NCA and Michigan Department of Education requirements.
  • Be proficient in the use of technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Grade level experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Create and maintain an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills.
  • Maximize opportunities for student success by creating positive working relationships with students.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Show confidence in working with new technology and various application packages.
  • Be a role model for students regarding life-long learning and professional behavior.
  • Work in a collaborative environment and be willing to learn new skills or revamp curriculum.
  • Be flexible, resourceful, innovative and effectively manage the design and execution of learning experiences, both formal and informal, that are responsive to student needs.
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments and provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students.
  • Assume other responsibilities as determined by their supervising administrator.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and project a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
