About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall operation and management of an assigned Early Head Start classroom, ensuring curriculum activities and program performance standards are implemented. The role involves managing classroom equipment, supplies, and children's nutrition, as well as designing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and conducting screening activities. The teacher will also support families in enhancing their children's well-being and academic success, and may be required to attend training and work on weekends, holidays, or evenings for special projects.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have no criminal record or criminal charges pending.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with liability insurance.
Must be able to speak, read and write English.
Must have First Aide/CPR certification or be willing to obtain it.
Must have a clear TB and physical examination before the first day of employment.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must have a Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) for Infants and Toddler Caregivers.
Must have 3 years' experience (with infants and toddlers).

Be Bilingual - able or willing to learn to speak, read and write English and Spanish.
Be a local resident of Cameron or Willacy County.
Be a person sensitive to the needs of the poor and disadvantaged.

Responsibilities

In charge of the assigned Early Head Start classroom.
Responsible for the overall operation and management of the classroom.
Work in a team teaching environment and ensure that all curriculum activities and program Performance Standards are implemented in the classroom.
Responsible for the proper nutrition of all children.
Assist in formulation and maintaining records of individual children in the classroom.
Responsible for the care of classroom equipment, materials and supplies.
Responsible for daily/weekly classroom lesson plans.
Assure that all screening activities are conducted and follow-up is completed.
Designs Individual Education Plans (IEPs) as needed.
Attend staff training through pre-service and in-service workshops, and out of town conferences when necessary.
Supports the efforts of Head Start families in the enhancement of their children's healthy well-being and academic success.
Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor relative to program operations.
Works on weekends, holidays, and/or evenings on especial assigned projects and/or tasks on request of the Executive/Head Start Director.
