Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is a district on the rise, serving over 320,000 students in 500+ schools and employing over 44,000 people, most of them teachers. CPS has set ambitious goals to ensure that every student, in every school and every neighborhood, has access to a world-class learning experience that prepares each for success in college, career, and civic life. In order to fulfill this mission, we make three commitments to our students, their families, and all Chicagoans: academic progress, financial stability, and integrity. Six core values are embedded within these commitments – student-centered, whole child, equity, academic excellence, community partnership, and continuous learning. Located within the Office of Teaching and Learning, the Professional Learning Department leads the district-wide strategy for professional learning that improves the student experience and outcomes aligned to the CPS Instructional Core Vision. This includes learning opportunities for teachers, teacher leaders, instructional coaches, school administrators, network instructional support leaders, network chiefs and deputies, and central office team members. Job Summary: Reporting to the Manager of Teacher Development, the Teacher Development Specialist will ensure that the support provided by the Office of Teaching and Learning improves the student experience and outcomes aligned to the CPS Instructional Core Vision. The Teacher Development Specialist will leverage their experience and expertise in the areas of professional learning and PreK-12 education to strengthen the impact and quality of professional learning across the district. This position will support the implementation of the Skyline professional learning plan and help develop and implement a quality control process for all internal and external district-level professional learning. The Teacher Development Specialist will collaborate closely with cross-departmental Content Specialists to ensure a coherent vision for PreK-12 professional learning is scaled throughout CPS. This is a full-time exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.
